Swindon Town Women opens doors for aspiring footballers

A new chapter is unfolding at Swindon Town Women Football Club

Over the last year, the club has completed a transition, which sees the women’s side run centrally at Swindon Town.

As the first team starts the 2023/24 campaign, opportunities for young players to join the Under 18 and Development Teams have arisen, creating a genuine pathway for budding footballers to rise through the ranks.

These teams play a pivotal role in the club's vision. They’re not merely platforms for young players to showcase their talents but are a significant part of Swindon Town WFC’s player development pathway.

When discussing Town WFC's approach, Tom Hartley, Swindon Town WFC Technical Director said:

"With a holistic focus on development, young players are supported to develop both on and off the pitch.

"Swindon Town WFC is deeply committed to creating an environment where our players can thrive.

"Our Under 18 and Development Teams serve as foundational pillars in our effort to cultivate the next generation of footballers.

"It's about nurturing their passion, refining their skills, and providing a pathway to more opportunity."

The players will train under the keen eyes of experienced FA-qualified coaches. With weekly training sessions at Foundation Park, these aspiring footballers will have access to high-quality facilities that align with the club's high standards.

For those wondering about the competitive edge, the U18s team plays in the Oxfordshire Girls Football League, and the Development Team compete in the FA Women’s National League reserve league.

This is an opportunity to consider for parents keen to see their children embrace the world of football, or young talents itching to make a mark.

Swindon Town WFC remains dedicated to its vision, and this initiative stands as a testament to its commitment to the future of women’s football.

Aspiring players or their guardians can get in touch with the club and express their interest by emailing admin@swindontownwfc.co.uk.
