Swindon Town Women Development Team Manager Chiarna Deller provides the following update on the progression of her side last month:

With fixtures coming thick and fast for the development team they were looking to continue form in the Reserve National League.

A trip away to Southampton Reserves saw a tight encounter, with both sides looking for a league win. Southampton took the lead early in the first half with a well-placed strike. Town didn’t let their heads drop as they began to pile on the pressure going forward to put Southampton under pressure. Half-time came around quickly, with Town resetting expectations and making an early defensive change.

The Development Team came out firing in the second half with two well-placed goals from Irene Aguado in the 54 and 55th minute to take the lead. A late resurgence from Southampton saw them under pressure when a goal was disallowed for offside for Southampton. Nikita Steele caught a deflection from a Lola Weise cross to be one-on-one with the keeper, with the flag going up for offside.

The exciting second-half display handed the Development Team a well-earned and hard-fought 2-1 league victory.

December 10th saw Town away by the coast to face Exeter City Reserves falling to a tough league defeat. Exeter City showed some fantastic passages of play with the Development working hard and pushing them to the final whistle.

Swindon Town Women’s Development Team are next in action on Sunday, December 17th as they take on AFC Bournemouth Reserves.
