Swindon Town Women sign Georgia Vandries

Forward joins the club previously of Bristol Rovers Women

12 December 2023

Swindon Town Women are delighted to announce the signing of forward Georgia Vandries previously of Bristol Rovers Women, subject to FA approval.

The 26-year-old forward, who has also previously played for Forest Green Rovers Women will be looking to add more firepower to Town Women going forward this season.

Vandries is a prolific goalscorer, scoring 18 times in 18 appearances last season, after spending the vast majority of the 2021/22 season at Forest Green Rovers, where she met current Swindon Town Women's boss, Richard Wood.

The forward will now be available for selection for Town's County Cup away fixture against Melksham Town on Sunday at Oakfield Stadium, as she looks to help her new side progress to the next round.

Upon completing the signing, Wood said: "I am pleased to finally add Georgia to our group.

"She is a player that I know very well from our time together at Forest Green Rovers and she is someone who trains and plays with 100% desire to do well.

"She is also a fantastic person, who knows the group having spent some time with us in pre-season and will fit in with ease.

"She is a strong communicator on the pitch and has a very good goalscoring record, being the second top goalscorer in the South West Regional Premier League for Bristol Rovers last season.

"She has been unlucky with injuries at the start of this season and it will take us a few weeks to get her up to top speed, but she will then add firepower to our front line and competition for places.

"I want an exciting team that scores goals and Georgia brings different qualities to the forward players we already have and so makes us stronger.”

Upon signing for Swindon, Vandries said: "I am excited for this opportunity at a great club.

"The girls have done so well already this season and I can’t wait to see what the rest of the season will bring.

"I feel this will be a really good move for my development as a player going back into the National League.

"The girls, coaches and management have been so welcoming and I can’t wait to see what I can bring to the team."
