Swindon Town Football Club is delighted to announce the appointment of former player, Michael Doughty, as our new Chief Sustainability Officer.

The 30-year-old, who had three spells as a Swindon Town player between 2016 and 2020, will support and advise the football club on it’s ambitions to become a leading environmentally, sustainable football club.

Ahead of our planned purchase of the County Ground, this partnership will help ensure the environment is at the forefront of our decision making.

Michael Doughty, said “Swindon Town Football Club has always held a special place in my heart, and I am delighted the club has trusted me to help it transition to a greener future.”

In addition to getting Michael onboard, we are delighted to announce a partnership with his sustainable sportswear brand, Hylo Athletics, which make high performance products for athletes that have a low impact on the planet.

Hylo will be our first-team travel wear partner for 2023/2024 as we look to invest in all areas of the club to improve our environmental footprint.

Town Chief Executive, Rob Angus, said: “We are delighted to outline our ambitions to become a greener football club, and we really appreciate the support from Michael in helping us on our mission.

“Ahead our proposed, historic purchase of the County Ground, we feel now is the ideal time to look forward and build a sustainable future.

“Michael will operate predominantly from the Hylo base in London, however, you’ll see him at SN1 on a regular basis as we look to begin work around future stadium improvements.

“Working with Michael and Hylo will provide us with the expertise to help us on this journey as we continue to lay strong foundations for our future.”
