Shade picked for St. Kitts & Nevis

Town winger gets international call-up…

20 March 2023

Swindon Town attacker Tyrese Shade has been called up by St. Kitts & Nevis for their upcoming CONCACAF Nations League qualifiers this month.

The 22-year-old, who joined The Robins back in the summer, has been selected by coach Austin Huggins for their remaining two Group B matches away at Saint Martin this coming Thursday (23 March), and at home to Aruba on Monday (27 March).

If Shade features, he’ll be rewarded with his first full international caps for his country.

He currently has five youth level appearances and three goals to his name having played for The Sugar Boyz at the 2018 CONCACAF Under-20 Championships held in the States.

The former Leicester City academy graduate has four goals this term for Swindon from his 31 appearances so far – form which has earned him a call-up at a crucial stage of the Nations League for the Caribbean country.

They currently sit second in League C, Group B after two games, having already beaten Aruba 3-2 away and drawn 1-1 against Saint Martin in Basseterre back in June last year.

Ty will travel to the Raymond Gordon Ernest Guishard Technical Centre in Anguilla for the tie away at Saint Martin, before hosting Aruba at Warner Park to complete their group schedule.

The winners earn promotion to the league above, much like the European version of the Nations League, while also securing qualification for the 2023 Gold Cup preliminaries which kick off in June.

Everyone here at Swindon Town would like to wish Ty the best of luck over the coming week.
