Swindon's defence continued to be pushed early in the game but held their own for the following 15 minutes against an experienced League One side that continued to probe Town's young back-line.

It was the turn of Town's forward to try and come forward, with Miles Obodo and Fletcher Hubbard almost able to combine and set through the former one-on-one, but Exeter's Will Aimson was, unfortunately, able to stop the young forward from breaking through just past the 20-minute mark.

Town had another good chance on the break in the 36th minute, with Anton Dworzak and Brooklyn Genesini combining well to allow Joel McGregor to cross, but his drilled cross was blocked at the near post by the onrushing Exeter defender.

Another late chance came for Swindon in the 39th minute, with winger Fletcher Hubbard connecting with a deep Joel McGregor cross, but his volleyed effort into the turf was well-blocked by the Exeter defence and ended what was a fairly uneventful first half.

After this chance, neither side looked to threaten for the majority of the remainder of the game, with some late defending from Swindon's defence denying a late second for the visitors.
