Swindon Town U18s made it three wins in a row in the Youth Alliance League, with a 3-1 away victory to Forest Green Rovers on Saturday.

An early goal for the versatile defender Harry Gray saw Town get off to an ideal start to their latest league fixture, with the youngster scoring in just the 13th minute.

This bright opening was coupled with a brace for forward Miles Obodo in the second half to give Swindon a comprehensive victory.

Forest Green pulled a late goal back to make it only the two-goal advantage, but Town will take confidence from this performance as they look to continue to push at the higher ends of the Youth Alliance table.

It was a bright start from the young Reds and after some half-chances for both sides early on, Town took the initiative and also the lead in the game through a well-taken finish from Gray.

The ball fell to the youngster on the edge of the FGR box just after 10 minutes, before firing goalward on the half-volley and giving Town the 1-0 lead.

Town had the chance to double their lead 15 minutes later from the penalty spot, but unfortunately, forward Abu Kanu saw his effort saved from 12 yards.

Following this chance, Swindon U18s continued to apply the pressure on their Gloucestershire counterparts, with a chance for captain Jaxon Brown in the 32nd minute saved by the Forest Green keeper.

10 minutes later and again Town put the pressure on, defender Sonny Hart reaching a cross into the box, but saw his header go agonisingly wide, with Swindon holding onto just the one-goal advantage going into the half-time interval.

However, it wasn't long before it was 2-0 to Town, with forward Miles Obodo finding himself on the scoresheet with a typical poacher's finish in the 54th minute.

This was after the home side had been brought down to 10 men, with Swindon more than making their man advantage pay with a second goal just before the hour mark.

15 minutes later, Obodo found his second goal of the game, with a brilliantly-timed pass from George Alston releasing the forward to smash the ball into the left-hand corner and make it three goals to the good for Town as they looked to see out the game for the remaining 20 minutes.

Substitutions played their part late in the game and unfortunately, Swindon couldn't get their clean sheet as Forest Green pulled a late consolation back in the 92nd minute, but it will be Town who are the happier of the two sides with their overall performance.

Following this result, Swindon looks ahead to their next Youth Alliance fixture with a contest against FGR's Gloucestershire counterparts Cheltenham Town this Saturday at home.
