10-man Town play out goalless draw at the AJN Stadium

Swindon Town Women were held to a 0-0 draw in their latest league fixture away to Keynsham on Thursday night.

Town dominated the first 15 minutes with constant possession-based football and high pressing.

However, it would be Keynsham who had the best shot with an effort from their forward from close range that would be dealt with comfortably by Town keeper Emily McGrogran.

Town would have their first real opportunity of the half when Annie Colston had space down the middle but Keynsham Ladies keeper Kierk made a save to stop Town going ahead just before the half-time whistle.

Swindon would pick up where they left off in the second half with dominating possession, to which Ellie Strippel found Helena Diaz-Butcher but again the keeper got her hands too it.

With only five minutes played into the half, The AJN Stadium was experiencing some technical problems with the floodlights deciding to go out. After a 15-minute break and lots of light testing, play would resume.

Holly Beck-Esson would be found at the back post and unleash a vicious volley that would be blocked, and the rebounded shot would be saved brilliantly.

Halfway through the second half, Colston tried to take it around the keeper, but the ball was palmed away only to Meg Jarvis who would put it just wide of the right-hand post.

The closest chance of the game would fall to Colston who found herself one one-on-one with the keeper but again the keeper would stand strong as she would stick her left palm out to perfection to keep it level.

With just 10 minutes left before the final whistle, Town found themselves in an unfortunate position as Beck-Esson was sent off with a second bookable offence which sent Town to 10 players on the pitch.

Swindon Town Women will now focus on the WNL Cup at The County Ground on Sunday at 2pm against AFC Wimbledon. Supporters can buy tickets for this fixture here.
