Swindon Town Women’s Development are set to host Southampton Women Reserves in exciting up and coming league clash.
Swindon suffered a defeat last time out against Portsmouth as the side saw three unfortunate injuries causing the fixture to be more difficult than first anticipated.
Their game against Southampton Women Reserves will be a good game to bounce back in, with Swindon beating their visitors last time out away.
The development squad looks to finish the season on a high today at The Royal Agricultural College, and Development Manager, Chiarna Deller said on the upcoming game: “The devs are looking to put on a good performance with a few players returning from injury it will be nice to bring some depth back into the squad and allow us to focus on a positive outcome.
"When we last played Southampton it was a close encounter with the devs managing to see the game out well to win 2-1, that result last time kickstarted a good run of form for us.”
Deller also mentioned that “Bouncing back from the Portsmouth result is crucial as we would like to end the last two games of the season on a high.”
When asked about the opponents this weekend Deller said: “Southampton are a tough physical team who can punish you if given the chance. But we have the technical ability and the mentality to get the result we want."
"It’ll be a tough competitive battle that would see us move closer to them in the table. The girls have come so far in terms of development since the first half of the season, and I think deserve a good result”.
Deller also talked about her aims for next season: “We’re building towards next season as to which positions to recruit and where to strengthen our team and this weekend will solidify the direction we are going in.”
