Town lift the Wiltshire FA County Women’s Cup on Sunday afternoon

Swindon Town Women won the Wiltshire FA County Women’s Cup trophy after an impressive 4-0 victory against Purton Women FC at The County Ground on Sunday afternoon.

Holly Beck-Esson with an early goal, a goal from Mia Mugford and a brilliant brace from Tia Rees sealed the victory for Swindon Town Women last weekend.
 
The game started how Swindon wanted by dominating the first 10 minutes with a few early chances straight away as Holly Beck-Esson beat her player with a clever bit of skill and put her one-on-one with Purton’s goalkeeper who made herself big to make a great save and deny the in-form Town player early on.
 
Another run down the left from Beck-Esson allowed the winger to beat the keeper again one-on-one and was able to chip the ball home and give Town the lead after an impressive opening 15 minutes in.
 
There was still time in the first half for a few more chances for Swindon with Rees firing a shot from range goalwards that was unfortunately just a bit too much and flew just over the top of the net but gave Town plenty of encouragement to kick on and extend their lead in the second 45.

Swindon came out flying in the second half as they. looked to build on their first-half showing, with Mia Mugford found in plenty of space in the middle allowing her effort from range to find the back of the net with a well-struck strike to extend Town’s lead early in the second 45.
 
Just a few minutes later, Development Team's Tia Rees stepped up to the big occasion after scoring Town's third from the penalty spot with a well-taken spot kick to make the score 3-0 to Town Women.
 
Following this, Rees went one better and scored a wonder strike that assured of the victory and epitomised Town's impressive performance on Sunday afternoon, as Hattie Jones made a brilliant run to find the midfielder unmarked and saw her range effort swerve straight past the keeper to net the fourth for Town in the . 
 
The last 20 minutes saw Town dominate all possession and take full control of the final few minutes of the half before the full-time whistle eventually went and sealed victory for Town to allow them to lift the Wiltshire County Cup for the fifth time over the past couple of years, showing an impressive season of development of Town's Women's team this campaign.
 
Town Women now look ahead to their final two league fixtures of the 23/24 season, with the away trips to Torquay and Abingdon United still to come to wrap up a strong showing across the current campaign.
