Swindon Town U18s 23/24 Merit League fixtures confirmed

Town's youngsters have their next round of fixtures confirmed

28 February 2024

Swindon Town U18s have had their Merit League fixtures confirmed for the remainder of the 2023/24 campaign.

The under-18s qualified for the top tier of the Merit League after finishing second in the Youth Alliance League South-West Division.

They will now face off again with the other teams who secured a top-five spot, including Portsmouth, Plymouth, Oxford and Cheltenham.

Completing Merit League One are the five highest finishers in the south-east section – Luton, AFC Wimbledon, Stevenage, Sutton and Leyton Orient.

Lead Professional Development Phase Coach Sean Wood said: "After such an emotional and heartbreaking experience for everyone involved on Saturday against Plymouth, we've brushed ourselves down, reflected on the positive season we've had and now look forward to several competitions in the second half of the season, including the upcoming Merit League One campaign.

"Our U18s have been excellent during the Youth Alliance League, with the best defensive record in the league and as mentioned before, taking the title right to the very last minute of the season, is a credit to how much these players have come on and developed this season.

"Along with this, we have also had four league debuts and a fantastic FA Youth Cup run so far, which has seen us reach the quarter-finals vs Bristol City on Thursday 7th March and we hope to see as many as Swindon Town supporters there as possible.

"We have a good group of young people who work hard for each other and the football club and Saturday's disappointment shows how much they care about wanting to deliver success for this club.

"Our club is proud of their year so far but we have so much more to play for now with the Merit League and FA Youth Cup. We reflect, move forward and now our full focus is on the weeks ahead."
