Town sign Aaron Drinan

Forward arrives from Leyton Orient

1 February 2024

Swindon Town are delighted to announce the signing of Leyton Orient forward Aaron Drinan on a permanent deal, subject to EFL approval.

The 25-year-old began his career in Ireland and represented Cork City and Waterford,as he helped Waterford to win the League of Ireland First Division title during his first season in senior football, before making the move to Ipswich in 2018.

During his time at Portman Road, he had four loan spells and experience with the Republic of Ireland at the U21 level, representing his country seven times at that age group, before breaking into the first team with Ipswich in League One back in 2020-21.

Drinan made 22 first-team appearances for the Tractor Boys before a permanent and successful move to his most recent side Leyton Orient.

The Irishman hit the ground running for the O's, hitting an impressive rate of 16 goals in 44 games in his debut season, including a sublime hat-trick versus Hartlepool United as the O's achieved promotion to the third tier just last season.

This season, the forward has played 15 times for Orient, with Drinan looking to push Swindon up the table with similar level of performances that earned him a promotion to League One last season.
