Swindon Town are delighted to announce the season-long loan signing of Barnsley defender Conor McCarthy, subject to EFL approval.
The 25-year-old started his professional career with Cork City and spent three successful seasons with the side, before earning a move to Scottish Premiership side St.Mirren where he was for two years before moving to his current club Barnsley FC back in 2022.
During his time with Cork, McCarthy impressed, making over 60 appearances, scoring six times, and even making appearances in both the Europa and UEFA Champions League.
The defender then moved to the Scottish Premiership with St.Mirren and continued to impress during his time there, making almost 70 appearances, scoring twice.
During his career, the central defender has also impressed on the international stage, making appearances at both U18 and U21 levels for the Republic of Ireland.
More recently, McCarthy has made several appearances at League One level with his current club Barnsley, as looks to build on his previous outings in the league above.
