Ben Futcher was appointed as Dave Flitcroft's Assistant on Wednesday 14th June 2017.
Born and raised in Bradford, Futcher signed professional terms with Oldham Athletic in 1999 before going on to have spells with Stalybridge Celtic and Doncaster Rovers.
The towering defender then signed for Keith Alexander at Lincoln City in 2002, where he finished his first season with the club as top scorer after notching eleven goals to help The Imps reach the Play-Offs.
Futcher was crowned Lincoln's Player of the Season and he became a key figure at the heart of the defence, helping City to reach three Play-Off Finals in total.
A switch to Boston United in 2006 followed before the centre-back was on the move again, signing for Grimsby Town later that year. Futcher scored against old club Lincoln to send Town into the Play-Off Final against Cheltenham Town, but defeat ensured that Futcher's time at Blundell Park didn't end on a happy note.
He then went on to have stints with Peterborough United, Bury, Oxford United, Mansfield Town, AFC Telford United, Macclesfield Town and FC Halifax Town, before deciding to bring the curtain down on his playing career.
After deciding to move into coaching, Futcher was joint Caretaker Manager of Bury alongside Peter Shirtliff, before becoming Assistant to Dave Flitcroft in June 2015. The pair formed a fruitful partnership and helped guide Bury to promotion to League One in 2014/15.
After completing his Pro License earlier this month, Futcher has now been reunited with Flitcroft at Town and the pair will be hoping to bring plenty of success to The County Ground.
