Ben Purkiss was one of the first players to be signed by the Dave Flitcroft regime after arriving in the summer following his departure from Port Vale.
The vastly experienced right-back became the club's fourth signing of the summer and he has gone on to became a near ever-present since, racking up over 26 outings so far this term.
Starting his career with Sheffield United in 2003, Purkiss has made over 400 senior appearances for the likes of York City, Walsall and Port Vale.
The 33-year-old wore the Captain's Armband at Vale Park last season and he's a vital figure for The Reds both on and off the pitch.
In addition to his playing duties this season, Purkiss has also been named as the new Chairman of The PFA.
