Swindon Town Academy is Swindon Town Football Club's development system and embraces the two following statements that all players and staff members work by:
Academy Vision Statement
“To develop players who will predominately be recruited and nurtured from within the local area at a young age and only be supplemented from players further afield where necessary. It is integral to our club that the bloodline is maintained locally.”
Academy Mission Statement
“To provide a positive learning environment where the players are encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning, allowing players to play with enjoyment, freedom & make mistakes.”
“We are passionate about developing the person and producing good learners.”
Swindon Town FC has a fantastic history of producing first-team players from the Academy, who excel at both Town and other clubs they move onto in their professional careers, this example is shown from the start of the academy to the present day with current first-team players regularly involved in first-team matchday squads.
The club is committed to identifying, developing and supporting talented young footballers so they can achieve their maximum potential in a positive, supportive and professional learning environment.
Trials with Swindon Town Academy
Swindon Town Academy has an established network of volunteer and paid scouts, who cover many football games for players aged 7-18 years each week.
This enables the academy to identify talented players with the potential to be invited to trial for a place in the academy.
Only through this network will the academy recruit players, using the scout's measured knowledge of existing player levels and specific criteria that have been identified already.
This structure is the only method of gaining a trial with the club's academy, meaning trials are not offered for players or agents who contact the club directly.
