FITC launch joint Deaf and Mental Health Football Sessions

23 January 2019

Starting this week Swindon Town Football in the Community Trust in partnership with NHS Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership, are going to be running two sessions a week for our combined Deaf/Mental Health teams - on a Wednesday afternoon from 2.30 - 3.30 PM, and on a Thursday evening from 6.30 - 7.30 PM.

The team will get together on these days for training, and play competitive fixtures across Wiltshire and in Tournaments all over the country in the Ability Counts league. Our Deaf and Mental Health teams have had some great successes in the past, with the deaf team winning the Wiltshire Ability Counts League in two successive seasons.

The team also regularly participates in our end-of-season Festival of Football, and won the Football Fans in Training Trophy on the County Ground pitch in 2018. More recently during the first-team’s fixture against Newport, the team had the opportunity to play against their Deaf/Mental Health team on the pitch at half-time.

If you, or someone you know, would like to come along and have fun, and keep fit, in a friendly competitive environment, please contact Steve Holmes on (01793) 836883 or Clive Maguire on (01793) 421303 or 07901 570236. To book a place, click here.
