Colkett In Confident Mood Ahead Of Blades' Clash

14 March 2017

Charlie Colkett was thrilled to have returned to action at the weekend and is now relishing the chance to pit his wits against Sheffield United this evening.

The midfielder missed the Reds’ 1-0 defeat to Chesterfield earlier this month due to injury but was back in the thick of it at Port Vale on Saturday.

Colkett was pleased he wasn’t out of action for too long and felt there were positives to take from the defeat at Vale Park a few days ago.

“I was devastated to miss the Chesterfield game especially after we put some results together and three or four really good performances,” he told swindontownfc.co.uk.

“It was a shame to miss it but I came back as soon as I could and it was great to be back out there on Saturday against Port Vale.

“Missing one game when you are used to playing and playing does affect you a little bit, so it was great to get back out there and get back in the swing of things.

“It was disappointing to be a goal up and then end up losing the game - it was devastating.

“We take the positives from it and we dominated the game, especially in the first-half, but we know we need to take our chances better and as soon as we score we have to be stronger mentally in order to see the game out.

“We know we’ve got to do that better.”

Colkett is now looking forward to pitting his wits against the Sky Bet League One leaders tonight and is confident that Town have what it takes to upset the form book.

“It is going to be tough and we won’t dwell on Saturday’s defeat,” he added.

“We take the wins in our stride and we take the defeats in our stride because we haven’t got time to dwell on things.

“Tonight is going to be tough but everyone said Bolton was going to be tough and look what we did there, so we’ve got to keep believing, keep fighting, keep pushing each other and hopefully we can get some points back on the board.

“You’ve got to remember the wins, that feeling of winning and how we achieved that and we’re more than capable of racking up some more points before the end of the season to get us to where we need to be.

“That can start tonight.

“Sheffield United are a top team and they’ve got some good individuals but we’ve done our homework and when we focus on us then we are more than capable of getting the points we need.”
