Conroy Can't Wait For Oxford Clash And Potential Home Bow

2 February 2017

Dion Conroy is relishing the prospect of a potential home debut against Oxford United on Sunday (12pm Kick-Off).

The defender made his Robins’ bow as a late sub during the 1-0 defeat to Bristol Rovers last weekend and could well feature against the Yellows in three days’ time.

“I’m very excited,” he told swindontownfc.co.uk.

“Hopefully I can play some part in the game but even if I don’t then fingers crossed the team can get the three points and start pushing up the table.

“It would be an amazing win and it should be a great atmosphere.

“Hopefully we can get the win for the fans. It would be amazing to come on in-front of the fans but the main aim is to get the three points.”

Conroy made his debut away at Bristol Rovers last weekend and although the result didn’t go Town’s way, it was still a day to remember for the defender.

“It was amazing. The game obviously wasn’t the best but to be able to put a Swindon shirt on and come on in an atmosphere like that was really good,” he added.

“I came on and all the home fans were going nuts and screaming things but you’ve got to deal with things like that as a footballer, so it was another learning curve.

“As a team, we struggled a bit in the first-half but the second-half was a lot better and we managed to get the ball down and play.”

Finally, Dion feels he has settled into life at SN1 with ease although he has been left confused by the famous Magic Roundabout!

“It has been really good and I’ve settled in quite well,” he continued.

“I’ve got to know the boys and I’m settling in really well. I want to work hard, get my head down, get used to everything and get in the team and help them out.

“I’m just looking forward to playing for Swindon.

“I haven’t had much of a chance to look around Swindon yet because everything was such a rush last week and I went home after Saturday to see my family, but I have been out a couple of times and it seems lovely.

“The Magic Roundabout looks interesting though!”
