FA YOUTH CUP: McLoughlin - We Can't Take Salisbury Lightly

3 November 2016

Town U18s Manager Alan McLoughlin has warned his young charges not to underestimate Salisbury FC this evening (7.30pm Kick-Off).

The young Reds head to the Raymond McEnhill Stadium hoping to progress through to the Second Round of the FA Youth Cup, a goal McLoughlin knows is achievable as long as his team don’t get complacent.

“The players should be looking forward to the game and I’m hoping that they are able to produce the same sort of performance as they did against Cheltenham on Saturday,” he told swindontownfc.co.uk.

“If they do that and play to their capabilities then I’ll be happy with that.

“Salisbury are a good outfit, they are playing at home, they will have plenty of support and it is under lights on their home pitch so I expect it to be a very competitive game.

“We have to be competitive, we have to be willing to run as hard as the opposition and be as determined as the opposition and if we do that then I’m hopeful we can get through to the next round.

“I’m certainly not taking the opposition lightly and I’ve been demanding the same from the players for the last ten days.

“It is now time for them to go and stand up and be counted.

“As our boys are the favourites to go through tonight they will be under pressure and that is the pressure they have to deal with. That is the pressure I have put on them and if they do the job properly then I’m hopeful we can score some goals.

“It is important that we aren’t too complacent and we have to play in the right areas. They will be aggressive so I would like us to mix our game up and be clever in how we play.”
