INJURY UPDATE: No Fresh Injury Concerns For Town Ahead Of Bolton Clash

7 October 2016

Town Head Coach Luke Williams sat down with members of the local media earlier this morning to give an injury update ahead of tomorrow’s Sky Bet League One meeting with Bolton Wanderers (1pm Kick-Off) …

ON MICHAEL DOUGHTY:

“In all honesty Michael has had a bit of a setback and a few tests have come back with a few results that need a bit more examination.

“A blood test had something of a concern in there so we’ve taken him back out of the building again to make sure that he’s rested until those results come back.

“The health is far more important than the need for him to come back in and play games of football. We need him healthy and well so there is absolutely no pressure on Michael, we’re just all here to support him and try and help him in any way that we can.”

ON LLOYD JONES AND BRAD BARRY:

“Tomorrow will be a little bit too soon but both are making good progress and we’re really happy with where they are, so we expect to see them both in the very near future.

“We have a reserve game on Tuesday and that’s perfect for them to get minutes in a game that’s not got three points at stake, so we can see exactly where they are and how likely they are to be able to come back into the first-team environment.”

ON ANTON RODGERS:

“As the game wore on, Anton’s ankle became more aggravating to him and in the end he was very uncomfortable and it was better to come off and start icing immediately.

“But it is nothing more than superficial damage to the outside of the ankle, there is nothing on the inside where it is more serious.”

ON BEING ABLE TO REST JON OBIKA AND YASER KASIM IN MIDWEEK READY FOR SATURDAY:

“It does show how prepared the whole squad are to step in and play with the likes of Tom Smith and Ellis Iandolo coming in and even Anton (Rodgers) hasn’t been playing regularly in the first-team recently, but I thought he was outstanding.

“It is great to be able to rest two players that are very important to us.”

ON THE REST OF THE SQUAD:

“Everyone came through unscathed on Tuesday night but they are a bit tired because it was a full-blooded affair.

“Everyone is fighting fit.”
