LW: Positive result a good platform

12 August 2016

LUKE Williams believes that a positive result at Chesterfield tomorrow afternoon will give Town a good platform to build on as his side take their first steps into the 2016/17 campaign.

Speaking to the media ahead of Saturday's clash, the Head Coach recalled the last time Swindon were at the Proact Stadium where the came away with three points after a 4-0 win.

"To come away with anything at all, we’ve done well and we feel like we’ve got a good platform to build on," he said. "We want to try and win every single game and take the game to the opposition. We are enthusiastic, the boys are brave and so the best approach for us is to be front-footed and aggressive and try to win each game.

"I remember we started like a steam train (at Chesterfield last season). We really came out of the traps quickly that day and I think the game was over before it really started. There was a period where there was a response from Chesterfield and they did put some pressure on us but we weathered that storm and finished the game in the same way that we started it."

Finally, the Head Coach provided an update on injured trio Lloyd Jones, Jon Obika and Raphael Rossi-Branco.

"We don’t think its anything too serious for us to worry about long term but we need to give him (Jones) a bit of time to be pain free," he said. "We think he’ll be ten days or so. Both those boys (Obika and Rossi-Branco) are a bit longer-term so it’s a case at the end of every week, see how much progress they’ve made. Both players are doing everything they can to get back as quickly as possible."
