Luke Norris admitted that the 0-0 draw with Oldham Athletic on Saturday was a missed opportunity and knows Town cannot afford another slip-up this weekend.
The Reds carved out a string of chances against the Latics but were unable to make the breakthrough, leaving them in the Sky Bet League One relegation zone.
Luke Williams’ side now head to bottom club Coventry City this Saturday and Norris has stated that anything less than three points would be another blow in Town’s fight for survival.
“We should have been 3-0 up at half-time and that would have been the game done, but we didn’t take our chances,” he told swindontownfc.co.uk exclusively.
“I think that was one of our most dominant games I’ve been involved in here and it was a real shame not to have won the game because it would have been a massive three points.
“Oldham defended for their lives, something we maybe haven’t done well, but they had luck on their side.
“We should have won the game with the chances we created and in another match we would have won that by three or four goals easily.
“Saturday is three points only and that’s all we can say on it really.
“Three points come 5pm on Saturday is the only thing that is good enough.
“Oldham was a massive game but that has gone now and we can’t dwell on it. Everyone knows the next two games are going to define how hard or easy this task is going to be because we’re playing Coventry and Gillingham who are both involved in this scrap as well.
“If we haven’t got six points out of the next two games then it is going to be very tough.
“Everyone is fighting for their lives at this point of the season and if we don’t dig deep then we will get run over by other teams.
“We all need to pull together, do the horrible stuff well and let our qualities shine through.”
