TEAM NEWS: Yaser Kasim Suspended For Rochdale Meeting

17 October 2016

Town will be without Yaser Kasim for Tuesday’s Sky Bet League One fixture against Rochdale at The County Ground.

The midfielder, who has 13 games under his belt so far this term, picked up his fifth booking of the 2016/17 campaign during the 0-0 draw with AFC Wimbledon on Saturday and will now not be available to feature against Dale tomorrow night (7.45pm Kick-Off).

Brad Barry, who made his first-team comeback at the weekend, is currently on four yellow cards and is just one more booking away from picking up an automatic one-match suspension.

“It is a blow and it is an even bigger blow that the referee makes the wrong decision, Yaser wants to talk to him about it and he gets booked,” Town Head Coach Luke Williams told the media earlier today.

“I find it incredible that you make a mistake and punish someone else, but it is what it is and we are without him for tomorrow night.

“That means that somebody else gets an opportunity to shine and prove themselves.”

Williams also provided an update on the fitness of Lloyd Jones, Brad Barry, Michael Doughty and Jon Obika.

“Lloyd Jones is still rehabilitating at the moment and he’s back with Liverpool. I think it is fair to say that they’ve got every resource available to them, so he’s there and he’s making progress," added Williams.

“It was good to see Brad Barry back on Saturday and anyone who has watched us over the last eighteen months or whatever it has been will know that Bradley’s quality and his commitment has never been in question.

“He’s a player we’ve missed.

“Just to have Michael Doughty back in the building is brilliant and it gives everyone a boost. The sooner we can get him back fit and on the pitch the better.

“Jon Obika is progressing, he’s still a little bit of a way off but he’s progressing and hopefully he’ll be back on the grass soon.

“That will give everyone a boost as well.”
