Cooper: A Game of Two Halves

23 November 2014

MARK Cooper spoke to the media after Town's 2-1 win at Peterborough.

On the result...
It was two-halves, first-half was very good, second-half very poor. Once we got the second goal we tried to see the game out again instead of playing properly - and very similar to Leyton Orient - we're hanging on at the end when the game should be well and truly over.

On the performance...
I'm very disappointed. I've let the players know I'm not happy with the performance because we have to strive to be better than that, especially in the second-half. It's a difficult scoreline 2-0 because one goal finishes the game either way. If we get another one it's game over, if they get one then it's game on. We dominated possession, we passed the ball really well, we created numerous chances, we hit the post, we scored and I thought we played really well in the first-half. I'm just disappointed that we didn't play as much, we resorted to a few long-balls when it was on to play and the game was stretched and we gave the initiative to Peterborough late on in the second-half when we should have been really comfortable.

On seeing the game out...
It's never over at 2-0. You have to be professional and make sure you make it over by getting another goal but we didn't do that and it's given us food for thought. It's given us an awful lot of work to do next week.
