Injury Update: Stewart Sidelined

4 September 2015

KEVIN Stewart will spend a minimum of six weeks on the sidelines with a medial ligament sprain, says Town boss, Mark Cooper.

“Kevin Stewart has a bad one from a bad tackle the other night against Newport,” he told the official website. “Our Physio, Paul Godfrey, made an initial diagnosis of a grade two MCL tear but, as per his loan agreement, Liverpool requested he return to them for further assessment and a scan. The scan has confirmed our initial diagnosis and he will remain with Liverpool for his rehab which will take at least six weeks.”

He continued: “Nathan Thompson and Jon Obika will be touch-and-go for Saturday, Jermaine Hylton is coming along nicely and Brandon Ormonde-Ottewill might not be available.”

Despite a busy transfer deadline day, Cooper admits that, with players away on international duty, Town will still be light on numbers this weekend.

“We’ve signed a couple of players but we’ve also lost a couple so we are where we were, really,” he said. “We’re still short on numbers but we’ve brought in some quality players. This Saturday we’ll be light on numbers but, once we get this weekend out of the way, everyone will be back from international duty and I think everybody apart from Kev Stewart and Jermaine Hylton will be able to feature.”
