Town fell to a frustrating home 1-0 defeat to Moneyfields FC Women in their last home fixture of the 2023/24 season on Sunday afternoon.
A quiet but positive start for Town in the early stages of the first half, with a good spell of pressure nearly paying off, as a good set-piece routine found Helena Diaz-Butcher who was unfortunate not to convert her shot in a threatening position.
The game was end-to-end for 20 minutes with both teams fighting to get the first goal of the game. But again, it would be Town with the best chance of the half before the whistle, as Meg Jarvis closed the keeper down but her effort was saved well by the Moneyfields keeper.
The home side dominated the latter stages of the first half, as the half-time whistle blew and the score goalless going into the break.

Striker Annie Colston had a good chance in the first 10 minutes in the second half, after Georgia Vandries made a good run to find Colston but her strike fell to the keeper’s hands and Town looked to continue in this threatening form.
However, Town lost momentum and Moneyfields hit Swindon with a sucker punch and would find themselves on the counter-attack and with the first goal of the game in the 60th minute.
There was still time in the game for a late consolation with Swindon getting themselves in dangerous positions however, they could not convert with the
chances they had, leaving Richard Wood’s side disappointed with their last home game of the 2023/24 Women’s National League.
Following this result, Swindon Town Women have an extended break and will play their next league fixture against Abingdon United away on April 21.
